for credit unions.
Oklahoma Credit Union League Efforts
Tulsa, OK. How does a state increase
its Children's Miracle Network fund raising from $3,000
in 1997 to a whopping $150,000 in only six years? The
answer rests in not only the hard work of Oklahoma’s
credit unions, but also in the organization and dedication
on the part of the Oklahoma Credit Union League.
Oklahoma’s fund raising efforts are overseen
by Lara Denning, AVP of Communications, who has spent
the last six years working with Children's Miracle Network.
She also currently serves as Chair of the Statewide
Credit Unions for Kids fundraising committee.
“Our successes here in Oklahoma are not only
contributable to the credit union staff members throughout
the state, but also to the members of credit unions
statewide. Without their support of the credit unions
fundraising efforts – we wouldn’t raise
nearly as much money for our local children’s
hospitals,” said Denning.
Whether they are hosting car shows, bake sales, selling
popcorn and candy or the various other unique things
credit unions do to raise money for Children’s
Miracle Network – their efforts are always successful
because they do it from the heart.
Credit Unions across Oklahoma have embraced Children’s
Miracle Network as one of the many charities they raise
money for because they feel it is a good fit for their
unique philosophy about “People Helping People.”
“The great thing about CMN is that the money
we raise here in Oklahoma, stays here in Oklahoma. Our
fundraising goes directly to the two CMN affiliated
organizations here in the state to support healthcare
for children without insurance, needed equipment and
funding important research to help eradicate many childhood
diseases,” said Denning.
